Pilar Estarellas Campos

It is with great sadness that the Campos family announces the passing of Pilar Campos Estarellas, who died suddenly Thursday morning at the age of 88. It is with great sadness that the Campos family announces the passing of Pilar Campos Estarellas, who died suddenly Thursday morning at the age of 88. Along with her late husband, Raul, she raised their five children; Maria Del Pilar, Raul, Francisco, Carmen and Rick. Pilar Campos was a woman who most would find hard to categorize. Her in-depth knowledge of so many subjects was astounding and her talent to see within the mind and soul of people was nothing short of magical. As a young girl, raised in Guayaquil Ecuador, she was known for both her popularity and her high academic achievements; attributes she often credited to both her parents. The remaining three quarters of her life were lived in New York where she raised her family and later went on to study psychology at Dowling College, at the age of 40, where she graduated summa cum laude, a year early, with a degree in Psychology. From this point on she could best be known for dispensing a brand of unique and immeasurable advice and guidance to people in her community, here in New York and Ecuador; most who would come to regard her as their wise, sweet second mother. Of course, for her own children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren her passing is too soon. Pilar's life of bestowing enormous love and compassion for, both, people and animals leaves behind a tremendous wake that will never be filled.
